Why Gasfitting and LPG Matter
All gasfitting, including pipework, appliances and flues, should be done by a currently licensed or certifying gasfitter.
LPG cylinders of 45 kg or more must be installed and stored outside, and installed by a licensed gasfitter.
Once connected, gas work needs a Gas Safety Certificate, issued no later than 20 working days after connection.
Gasfitting and LPG cost
Replacing an old LPG regulator or old gas pipework increases the installation cost.
If a past gas certificate cannot be found, a certifying gasfitter has to check the installation and issue a certificate of verification.
LPG cylinders 10 years old or more must be retested at a licensed test station before they can be refilled.

Eclipse Plumbing & Gasfitting is a Birkdale-based Plumber contractor serving Birkdale, Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Chatswood, Hillcrest, Northcote, Glenfield and Takapuna.
We've been trading for 13 years. Eclipse is led by Jake Rafi, who has been plumbing for 22 years, and we are current members of Master Plumbers. From our base in Birkdale we look after hot water, gasfitting and renovation plumbing for local homes.

What are your rates?
Our rate is from $160+GST on weekdays, 7am to 5pm, which covers the visit and your first hour. After that, labour is $110+GST per hour. Quotes are free.
Do you offer after-hours or emergency call-outs?
Not at this stage. We do not offer a 24 hour or after-hours service. Our standard working hours are weekdays, 7am to 5pm.
Will I get a gas certificate?
Yes. All gasfitting in New Zealand must be certified, and connected gas work needs a Gas Safety Certificate. The regulations require us to give you a copy. Keep it safe, as you may need it for insurance or when you sell.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Jake is a certifying plumber and gasfitter, and Eclipse is a current member of Master Plumbers. Our licence numbers are on the public register if you want to look them up.
What areas do you cover?
We are based in Birkdale on the North Shore and work across the North Shore, including Birkdale, Beach Haven, Birkenhead, Chatswood, Hillcrest, Northcote, Glenfield and Takapuna. Our rates are the same in every area.

Yes. We install heat pump hot water systems for homes moving off gas. Every system is quoted to suit your home and how you use hot water.

Yes. We do renovation and new build plumbing alongside builders and for homeowners.
Do you install dishwashers and other appliances?
Yes. We do the plumbing connections for dishwashers, washing machines and fridges, and we install water filters. Our gasfitting covers gas hobs and cookers.
